Which sports can InstaScore scorekeep for?

InstaScore can keep score for virtually any youth team sport. If your sport isn’t listed and if it requires keeping scores for 2 teams, a clock and a period counter, select the “General” icon from the app to use a generic scoreboard.

What’s the catch with InstaScore? How much does the app cost a year?

InstaScore is a one time purchase with absolutely no recurring fees. The InstaScore Scorekeeper app is free to download and use, with or without the purchase of the physical InstaScore scoreboard.

If I want to use InstaScore for multiple sports, how do I choose which direct to film [DTF] signage labels to apply to my InstaScore?

InstaScore is capable of customizing its signage for a single sport so your options are to:

1. Create the signage for the sport that you use the most.

2. Create the signage by only applying the DTF sticker for the common fields - TIME, for example.

3. Not apply the stickers at all and use the scoreboard as a generic time/scores/period keeper.

4. Consider buying additional InstaScore units so you can customize each for a particular sport.

How much does InstaScore weigh?

The scoreboard itself weighs only 11.5 lb. The full kit, including the easel stand and the backpack, weighs 18 lb. It’s light enough for anyone to carry.

How many hours can InstaScore operate from a full charge?

InstaScore’s battery is capable of discharging 6 to 10 hours but the exact duration depends on display brightness and actual usage. If you have runtime anxiety, we strongly advise that you purchase additional backup batteries.

What happens if the onboard battery runs out?

He scoreboard LED will flash once every minute when the battery capacity dips below 25%, meaning you have between 30 - 60 min remaining. When the onboard battery runs out, pop in the backup battery if you have one available. If no back battery is available and you have access to a power source, connect it and plug in the USB-C to charge the battery and continue to use it at the same time.

The app will continue to operate independent of the InstaScore coreboard when the scoreboard battery runs out. Once the new battery is installed, you will be prompted to send the game statistics from the app to the scoreboard.

We strongly recommend the purchase of a second backup battery if you intend to use InstaScore for more than 5 hours continuously without access to a charging source.

What happens if the device of the scorekeeper in charge walks out of range?

If the operator of InstaScore walks out of the scoreboard, the scoreboard’s time will continue to operate in either stopwatch or timer mode. The operator’s app will beep loudly to make him/her aware that his mobile device has disconnected from InstaScore.

What happens if the scorekeeper’s phone runs out of battery?

You have two options:

1. If the scorekeeper has a power bank or portable charger, begin charging the phone and reconnect to the scoreboard. Once you power up and reconnect to the scoreboard, you’ll be prompted whether you want to receive the game statistics from the scoreboard.

2. If the scorekeeper doesn’t have an alternate power source, ask someone else to download the app and connect to InstaScore. Once the connection is established, the new scorekeeper will be prompted whether he/she wants to receive the game statistics from the scoreboard.

Can InstaScore’s app be used without the scoreboard?

Yes, the app can be operated as a standalone scorekeeper on your phone, without connecting to InstaScore scoreboard. However, why not buy the scoreboard so everyone can enjoy the game!

How secure is the InstaScore app? Can someone else hijack the connection?

InstaScore is built with Bluetooth BLE and it operates similarly to a Bluetooth speaker. As such, once a person is connected to the InstaScore scoreboard, no other person(s) can pair or connect to the same device unless the pairing is disconnected. As such, the connection is VERY secured.

How accurate is the InstaScore clock?

InstaScore receives its time from the App, which derives its time from your mobile phone. This means InstaScore’s stopwatch or timer is AS ACCURATE AS your mobile device. If your app is running in the background or if the app screen is turned off, as soon as you navigate back to the InstaScore app screen, the clock will re-sync immediately if there are any discrepancies.

Is InstaScore weather-resistant?

InstaScore is built to operate between -4° to 140° F, able to withstand any weather condition in which you’re tough enough to be playing sports outdoors. It is rain-resistant, dust-resistant, sleet-resistant, heat-resistant, snow-resistant, ice-resistant.

However, we do not recommend that you play under excessive heat or cold, which is when temperature is greater than 100° F or less than 13° F.

How many InstaScore scoreboards can connect simultaneously to display and mirror the game statistics?

If purchased separately, up to 4 InstaScores scoreboards can be connected to a single App.

Is InstaScore compatible or work with GameChanger?

No. InstaScore is a stand-in for a permanent in-ground scoreboard that is supposed to work at your local sports field and like that device, it doesn’t integrate with GameChanger and is meant to display critical game statistics to everyone present at the game.
